As part of an internal appeal for donations at ACI Laser in December 2024 for the benefit of the Parents’ initiative for children with leukemia and tumors Suhl/Erfurt e.V., 750 euros were collected. The donation was handed over to the association on Friday, January 17, 2025 in the “Villa Kunterbunt” at Helios Klinikum Erfurt.
Employee donation for a good cause
The annual Christmas celebrations are a good opportunity for a company to support a good cause. Last year, ACI Laser once again decided to support a charitable project with a donation. A total of 750 euros was raised during our internal fundraising campaign. The handover of our donation on behalf of the entire ACI Laser team took place on Friday, January 17, 2025 at a personal meeting with Karin Allstädt, branch manager of the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Leukemia and Tumors Suhl/Erfurt e.V., in the “Villa Kunterbunt” at Helios Klinikum Erfurt.
Retreat and support
The “Villa Kunterbunt” in the Mother and Child Center at Helios Klinikum Erfurt is a lovingly furnished playroom for patients in the children’s cancer ward, which is located right next door. The children can come here during the day to play, linger and relax, escaping for a moment from the monotonous daily routine on the ward with all the challenges that treatment entails. “Our aim with the “Villa Kunterbunt” is to make hospital stays a little more bearable for sick children and their families and to accompany them through this difficult time,” says Ms. Allstädt. Founded in 1991 by a group of parents of affected children, the association supports various projects, such as the playroom, making music together, hospital clowns, a parents’ apartment, events, parties and excursions.
Thanks and use of the donation
We would like to thank the entire ACI Laser team and Mirko Wunderlich for their great support,” emphasized Ms. Allstädt at the handover. “We would like to use the donation this year for a sibling project,” one of the various recurring projects supported by the association. The parents of seriously ill children understandably focus on the sick child after the diagnosis. In most cases, one parent is in hospital with the sick child for a longer period of time and the needs of the sibling inevitably take a back seat. Under the motto “Now it’s MY turn”, activity days and events are organized for these siblings in order to give them targeted attention and joy during this difficult time. This can include painting in the studio, ice skating, a visit to the climbing forest, bowling, etc. One of the highlights every year is a visit to the SuperSummerCamp. ACI Laser is proud to be able to support the important work of the parents’ initiative with this donation.
