Perfect solutions from ACI Laser
Efficient and durable
Engraving and marking metals is a core competence of ACI Laser. In line with the broad application of metals in industry, we offer the perfect solutions for high-quality laser marking and engraving on metals.
The laser systems suitable for this, such as laser engravers, emit radiation with a wavelength of 1064 nm. This wavelength is excellently absorbed by metallic materials, which is a prerequisite for high-quality laser marking and laser engraving. This allows complex geometries and intricate structures to be created.
Metals (such as aluminum) make up the largest group of elements at around 80 %. With the exception of mercury, all metals are solid at room temperature. They have some common properties, such as electrical conductivity and the typical metallic luster. Due to their aggregate state, metals are particularly suitable for laser engraving and laser marking.
ACI Laser offers you laser systems as intelligent complete solutions for the laser marking of metals in the form of manual workstations and for in-line integration.
Thanks to the high precision of our marking lasers, even demanding markings such as micro-markings can be realized on almost all materials. Unlike printing, laser-engraved information is abrasion-resistant and therefore ideal for permanent marking even under the most adverse conditions.
Laser processing – whether marking or engraving – doesn’t have to be complicated. With our Magic Mark laser software, laser marking is intuitive. It is designed to be particularly user-friendly and offers full flexibility when changing the marking to be applied.
Thanks to the high laser power, marking is carried out at high speed so that the efficiency of your production is not impaired. No auxiliary materials or additives are required. In addition, unlike printing, no waste materials such as ink or paint residues are produced. The laser is therefore a real plus when it comes to a company’s environmental footprint.
Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about laser marking of metals. If you would like to know more about the possibilities for marking or engraving your own products, please do not hesitate to contact us!
What types of laser marking are available for metals?
Metals can be marked or engraved using laser radiation. While engraving creates a clear profile on the surface by removing material, marking does not necessarily require material to be removed from the workpiece. The laser can also be used to create a color change in the uppermost layers of material. Possible types of laser marking include Annealing marking, black marking or “brightening”, which produces a bright marking result.
Which metals can be marked with the laser?
In principle, all metals and alloys relevant to industry can be marked with the laser. For example, aluminum, copper and titanium can be marked as well as brass, bronze, stainless steel and various other types of steel.
Which lasers are used for metal marking?
Fiber lasers are generally used for marking metals. These are ideally suited for this due to their wavelength.
For which industries is laser marking of metals suitable?
Thanks to its versatility, laser marking of metals can be used in all relevant industries. The automotive, medical technology and aerospace industries are just a few examples of the versatility of our high-quality and reliable laser systems.
Modern fiber lasers deliver precise results with high resolution and resistance to heat, acids and mechanical stress. Laser marking therefore guarantees permanent and reliable traceability of products and workpieces, even under the most demanding conditions.
