Laser films as engraving materials are an alternative for materials that are difficult or impossible to mark directly. These engraving materials specially developed for laser marking, such as ablation foils, consist of several layers: a carrier material, a foil with an adhesive layer, a contrast colour layer and a cover colour layer. The laser beam first removes the cover colour layer. This makes the contrast colour layer underneath visible. In a second step, the laser system can cut through the entire film. In this way, any displayable 2D shape can be reproduced as a label. The finished label can be easily removed from the carrier material after processing.
In contrast to release films, colour wrap films have a transparent laminate layer. This prevents gases and dust from escaping during laser marking. The labelling takes place under the laminate layer and is just as high-contrast as the ablation films.
Laser foils are widely used as information carriers suitable for industrial applications. They have become indispensable, especially in automotive engineering. Due to their enormous mass, a process had to be developed with which these foils can be labelled with high contrast in short cycle times. The broad product and service portfolio of ACI Laser GmbH leaves nothing to be desired.
